The most beautiful hikes in the Vosges

The two houses: hikes and excursions

Ideally located in Gérardmer in the heart of the Vosges, Les Deux Maisons offer you the possibility of undertaking activities on site or making excursions that will allow you to explore the Vosges. Amateur or experienced hikers, you will find what you need to explore the beautiful trails of the Vosges mountains.

1. Around Les Deux Maisons

From Les Deux Maisons, you will find many possibilities for walking in the mountains. For impromptu or carefully organized walks, we recommend Iphigenie, the mobile application that contains all the IGN maps of France.

Le Sentier des Roches

The Roches trail is one of the hiking trails that most symbolizes the Vosges. It offers breathtaking landscapes of green valleys. We recommend that you start from the Col de la Schlucht for this adventure that will make you discover a unique landscape, alternating rocky ridges and lush forests. Be careful, however, it is a very narrow path where you should be extra careful and be equipped with good shoes.

3. La Piquante Pierre

This absolutely delightful hike will allow you to discover a place less known than others but so enchanting! Located in the heights of Basse-sur-le-Rupt in the Vosges, this escapade will take you through subtle and varied landscapes: you will see a torrent, a dense and generous forest, fascinating peaks and stunning panoramas.

Leave the car at the Col du Haut de Fouchure in Gerbamont and follow the signs for ""La Piquante Pierre"".

4. Lake Gérardmer

Gérardmer owes its nickname of "the pearl of the Vosges" to Victor Hugo's brother, Abel. And the fabulous lake found there surely has something to do with it. With family, friends or lovers, it is one of the essential places for a very pleasant walk on the path that winds all around. And it is also the perfect place for a picnic!

And to combine business with pleasure, follow the route suggested here for a signposted route that will take you to the Auberge de Liézey. An emblematic place in the Gérardmer area, it is a wonderful typical inn that offers local cuisine. Located in an enchanting place, we warmly recommend it.

6. Le Haut du Tôt

Perched at an altitude of 827 metres in the Vosges mountains, Haut du Tôt is the highest parish in the department. It is also a very beautiful place for hikes in green and flowery meadows. You will also cross dense forests and can admire the famous Cascade de la Pissoire.
